Bali : Day 4

Day 4 started with breakfast at the cafe ...

Mee goreng, potato cubes, scrambled eggs, toast with butter and papaya jam, papaya and coffee

After breakfast, we walked to Kuta Beach ....

Hard Rock Cafe attracted lots of tourists

The cafe

Up till now, I'd never realised that there was such a huge following for the Hard Rock brand. I'd visited the Hard Rock premise in Macau .... but other than that, I'd never made it a point to visit any other Hard Rock outlets anywhere else!

Kuta Beach

The waters looked calm in the morning ...

Japanese tourists learning to surf; the instructor spoke Japanese and I was impressed ...

Pak Awan did not even come today. Young Rama came in his place, and he would be our driver and guide. Today was shopping day ....

Krisna is a specialty souvenir shop

Lots of souvenirs - key chains, beaded necklaces, scarves ....

Clothing

More clothing ....

There were jewellery, food, coffee, soaps, lotions ..... plenty of stuff to buy and bring home .... I went for the beaded necklaces, some t-shirts, key chains. After Krisna, we went to Galleria and also Agung Bali for more shopping ..... and then it was lunch time.

Inside Galleria ....
Brands here included Coach, MK, Burberry, Gucci, Longchamp ..... and many more.

We were brought to Pawon Pasundan, a restaurant which served Sundanese food .... and we totally enjoyed lunch ....

Grass jelly drink and a bottle of water each ....

Sweet and crunchy watermelon ...

Nasi Timbel Komplit
Love the cylindrical rice wrapped in banana leaf .... Balinese rice is really yummy - it's fluffy, soft but not mushy, firm but not tough ...

Free Keropok ...

The three of us finished 2 bowls of sambal .....

After lunch, we headed to Uluwatu ..... it was a hot, hot day; despite that, the scenery was still amazing!

Love the sound of the waves hitting the shores .... love the amazing view!

We'd lingered at the compound .... and almost left the place without seeing this view below!!

It was too hot to walk along the trail over at the cliffside .....

The view was really breathtaking! Coincidentally, I met with my friend H here! She'd just landed in Bali that day, and Uluwatu was the first attraction she visited! Heh. H and I were old friends in Miri .... and I never thought I'd bump into her here ..... what a small, small world!

The monkeys at Uluwatu were notorious - they were known to snatch people's handphones and glasses and earrings. We heard a few squeals let out from time to time ... and we saw one particular monkey playing with someone's glasses ... We were glad that the monkeys left us alone.

Next up was Jimbaran beach ....

Many bathers here .....

The stalls are starting to set up their tables along the beach ....

Seaview dining ....

BBQ Corn, IDR15,000
Was tempted to try but didn't lest I couldn't eat dinner later on ....

We did not have our dinner here ... our dinner was at the other side of Jimbaran at Jalan Pantai Kedonganan. I think it's known as Jimbaran Bay ...

Bintang Laut was the name of the restaurant we patronised. It also offered seaview dining ....

 So many diners!
There were more Asian tourists here - those from China, Korea ..... compared to Jimbaran Beach which seemed to cater more to the Caucasians ....

Watching the sun set ..... I thought it was beautiful!

Our food was served at about 6.15 p.m. ....

Drinks and peanuts

Rice

Creamy chicken soup

Kangkong Stirfry
We detected some lemongrass infused in the stir-fry; it gave the vegetables a refreshing flavour. I totally liked it and I thought that I could cook this when I got back home. :))

Our seafood platter
Guess our travel agent prepared for us the cheapest set meal cause we did not get crabs like some other tables did ..... On the other hand, I was also glad that we did not have crabs, because I did not like the sweetish marinade they used to cook the seafood with .....

Tourists were serenaded with their favourite hit songs! These Balinese sang Chinese and Cantonese songs so well!

After our meal, we were brought to Sanur for our free body massage. Honestly, I thought the spa did not look very promising ....

Kapilka Spa

We were given an hour of Balinese massage, which I found to be ticklish ... lol .... so I couldn't say that I enjoyed the session much.

Young Rama brought us back to our hotel, and we said our goodbyes and wished him luck. We tipped him IDR100,000. It wasn't much. We were not obliged. But it was an act of courtesy on our part.

After we dumped our things back in our room, we headed out again on foot ....

Another favourite photo spot among tourists ....

We walked along Jalan Pantai Kuta and reached the Beach Walk Shopping Mall ... but it was too late and the security detail stopped us from going in ... so after we lingered for a while, we retired back to our hotel.
