Homemade Supper

My colleague C is really great at baking. Tonight, we were at her house for a fortnightly bible study session ... and she served us these homemade goodies for supper ....

Ooh .... so pretty

Ooh .... So yummy ....

C made the shao bao from scratch .... cooking the filling from char siew and pork, together with some meat floss too. It was so delicious that we each ate 2 pieces or more!

Pandan sponge with gula melaka filling

The cake was so soft .... and the pandan flavour distinct, while the gula melaka and santan filling was really sweet and satisfying ....

We downed all these with cups of tea and home-brewed luo han guo .... :))

  1. On first glance, those 'shao bao's look amazingly similar to those Tau Sar Pneah, Penang's traditional salty and sweet cookies. I guess it's the probably because the size is smaller.

  2. Yes, at first I thought it was a sweet pastry that she had bought from somewhere in town .... but of course we were delightfully glad that they were homemade and filled with meat instead. It was delicious! I'm sure it would be a hit if she sold it.
