And then it's back to Suisse Hotel for breakfast ...
Our hotel as viewed from the road
People said the pool was nice, so I went to have a peek ...
Breakfast was held at the hall ....
My platter
Egg hopper, and served with seeni sambal;
My favourite item for breakfast that morning was hoppers, a traditional Sri Lankan bowl-shaped pancake made from fermented rice flour and water. Cooked in small round pans, they tend to come out crispy round the edges, thicker at the bottom. My friend, AL and I ate about 4 or 5 hoppers between the both of us. Lol. We liked the crisp edges and the slight sweetness of the pancake. We even asked the chefs how they made it ... and they said they added coconut water to their batter.
We left the hotel after breakfast ....
View of Kandy
And went to Lakmini Gems ....
A replica of a mine
We made 2 stops to buy souvenir t-shirts ... I bought 1 piece for my nephew, B. They were pretty cheap at LAK400.
Then we drove to the beautiful campus of the University of Paradeniya.
A Benjamina Tree
This was a giant fig tree. I was amazed by the sprawling branches that seemed to be entangled in a complex way!
A tea plantation

We drove on for another hour .... and reached the highlands ....
A tea plantation
And then we visited a tea factory
Fresh tea leaves have just arrived at the factory

Enjoying a complimentary cup of tea
Shopping for tea
I couldn't find a type of tea in a packaging I wanted .... so I didn't buy any. Next was a lunch stop at Thuruliya Lodge. We arrived pretty late, and there wasn't much to eat at the buffet line already ...
We enjoyed the view of the surroundings, though ....
Lunch with a view .....
Soon, we reached Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya is dubbed Little England. It being at the highlands, the temperate climate was really pleasant. Just the week before, during the rainy season, Nuwara Eliya was covered in mists and hardly anything could be seen. But we were lucky. When we were there, the sky was so clear and so blue ... and it made the lake look pretty scenic.
We had to pay to enter the park. Foreigners were charged an admission fee of LAK250 ....

One could go on a boat ride on the lake
Kind of reminded me of New Zealand
Beautiful Lake Gregory exuded serenity ...
Loving what I see ...
Our guide then dropped us off at the town centre, where we were given an hour to stroll around. We found a supermarket and shopped there a bit, and then walked along a row of shops. It was interesting to browse at their bakeries and clothing stores. Then we walked around the quaint little post office here ...
The post office which looked like an English cottage attracted the attention of many tourists
A short drive away was our hotel. We checked into Jetwing St. Andrew's.
Loving the lounge here ....
The landscaped garden
Pretty garden chairs
The hotel building was a plantation owner's house
A hot cup of pumpkin soup! So yummy!
Our room, which I found to be too dim .... plus the wooden floor creaks when we walked on it ...
There was a fireplace in the room, but it was not in use. In its place was an electrical heater.
The bathroom
It was quite chilly at night. I felt really restless in the room as I could not connect to the Internet at that time. So we hung out at the lounge. A fire had been stoked at the fireplace, and it was really comfortable to sit there and thaw.
It was dark all around and there was no where to go, so we waited till it was time for dinner ...

Chicken soup
My selection from the sumptious buffet line
I loved the cake and the pudding!
After dinner, we retired for the night.
