Guizhou : Day 3 - Jiuzhou Old Town, Huajiang Canyon Bridge & Huangguoshu Waterfall

We stayed at 半山酒店 Mid-Level Hotel at Anshun ....  Looking at the name, I dared not expect much. I'd not stay at a mid-level hotel and expect high-level facilities and services, would I? But lol ... this room was nice ...

View from my room

Noodles with sour soup for breakfast ...

Fresh dates ....

We set off at 9.00 am again this morning .... we were headed to Jiuzhou Old Town .... but along the way, we stopped at a random rapeseed field to take photos ....

Jiuzhou Ancient Town was rather small, again lined with retail shops selling touristy stuff ... some of my friends bought clothes here .... I merely walked around and then exited the area ... there was not much that caught my interest ...

Next was lunch time .... we had our meal at a restaurant near our hotel in town ....

I liked this appetising beancurd stick salad ...

Diced potato with pork crackling or 脆哨 was super tasty ...

Another special dish was the scorched rice ...

Aww ... Snow Beer Super X Brave The World ....

After lunch, we drove out again for a long time ....

We were amazed by the maze of expressways in China!

The destination was the Huajian Canyon Bridge. This was the tallest suspension bridge in the world at 625m, and it opened only in September 2025.

The Huajiang Bridge crosses the Beipan River ...

There were dinosaur motifs in the area ... and only then I realised that significant dinosaur discoveries were found in parts of Guizhou.

After viewing the bridge, we descended to the bottom of the canyon to take a cruise. The road was narrow and winding and can possibly cause motion sickness and nausea. I'd be scared to drive but our bus driver manoeuvred expertly and safely down the road to the port.

We had to pay CNY228 for this optional cruise ride ....

View of the bridge from the cruise
This was as far as the cruise would bring us ....

After the cruise, we ascended the canyon road in the opposite direction and it afforded us another view of the bridge ....

And we were brought to Huangguoshu Scenic area.... We had dinner a restaurant just across the road from the entrance to the scenic ...

At this particular restaurant, I enjoyed the vegetables, particularly. I liked the snow peas and the garlic scapes and also the cauliflower ....

After dinner, we had a night tour of the Huangguoshu ....

Huangguoshu Waterfall at night
The biggest waterfall in Asia

There were some light shows and some dance performances as we entered the scenic area, culminating in the lighting of the waterfall itself .... after taking some pictures, we left and went back to our hotel ...
