Boosting Up With A Juice

Well, I actually found that a glass of juice was sufficient to keep me full ..... and I had wanted to make myself a glass for a long time already!

And so I had some fruits and vegetables cut ....

Apples and carrots and cucumbers and celery .... my favourite combination

Yummy and refreshing ... and did not cost a bomb like those at Boost Juice or JuiceWorks. :))

Goodness! I felt so healthy.

This was blended tomatoes .... 2 large ones in there, but hmn ... why isn't it red in colour? Lols.

I drank the tomato juice and went to sleep. But an hour later, I woke up with great pain in the tummy. I think it was gastric .... and had to chew 2 antacids ... Lols.

Thrice A Week

AT and I went to Noodle Descendants, his first time. So I had to show him the ropes, i.e. where to queue and the unwritten rules that were observed here at this noodle shop, that only the regulars would know. The rule of thumb, well .... queue for a table, and when securing one, sit down patiently to wait till served ...... Else one would get scolded for sure.

A few days later, I went with Dad .... and it being a weekend, we had to wait much longer. About 50 minutes to be exact. At any one point, there were only 3 tables eating, and the rest would be waiting .....

Oh, and we bumped into Fifth Aunt at the shop too .... and she paid for our meal. Thanks, Fifth Aunt!

Waiting ... waiting ...

Such delight when the bowl of plain noodles was set before me ....

And the irresistible offal soup to go with the noodles ...

I asked Dad if he wanted more noodles .... as I could not finish my bowl. AT would help me eat, but Dad declined saying it was too much for him as well. And so, to prevent wastage, I brought my noodles home.

See, I had came prepared with my Tupperware container .... and I would heat up my noodles and have them the next day ....

As we got up to leave, there was a long line of people waiting ....

Well, this continued to be one of my favourite noodle shops in Kuching. Like.

Previous post about Noodle Descendants here.

Dinner @ Mitsu Tea House

AT was going back to Miri this evening ..... and he was not feeling well. Poor thing. I think he was probably coming down with a cold ....

And thus, before sending him off, we had our dinner at Mitsu Tea House, which was near the airport. With our rice, we had this ...

Seafood Tom Yum
The soup was quite shiok, appetising .... with chunks of fish and also prawns inside the soup ... spicy broth, portion was quite big too

Mongolian pork chop
It was essentially pork katsu ... with a "Mongolian" sauce. Not sure how "Mongolian" it was ... but the sauce tasted of ketchup among other things. I did enjoy the crispy texture of the coating that enclosed the tender slivers of pork though.

Mixed vegetables
Very light dish to go with the other 2 items ...

I loved the steamed pear drink here as it was so cooling and refreshing .... I had 2 glasses. :P

The Authentic Chicken Rice

AT loved this chicken rice shop at Ang Cheng Ho Road, and he wanted me to try it.

A meal for two ...

Steamed and roasted chicken combined .... one could customise it ...

Blanched baby bok choy to go with it ....

To me, the chicken and veges were alright, but the rice was really good. Fluffy and fragrant and superbly tasty, and even now, I was thinking about it .... :))  That, and the power chilli dip! It was super spicy and very shiok. I do highly recommend this chicken rice outlet to all. For our meal, we paid RM17.00, for which I felt was rather reasonable. Love this clean chicken rice shop, will be back soon!

Dinner @ Overseas Seafood Restaurant

First up, I walked into the wrong washroom. The men's! No wonder I found the toilet to be so dirty. Goodness, they staff saw me walking into it, and never bothered to come tell me. How embarrassing for me!

Hmn .... Ok. When AT decided to come here, I was not excited at all. For one, I did not think I found the food here to be particularly yum the last time I was here. Read here, my first visit.

French beans with olive vegetable ...
Quite an interesting combination, though the flavours did not seem to come through ....

Venison with angled gourd, tofu, leek and carrots ...
Again, I thought it was weird to combine angled gourd into the whole dish ....

Steamed garoupa with water plums ...
Pretty sour it was .....

Hmn .... again, I'm still not finding the food here to be particularly good somehow .... perhaps their cooking style did not suite my palate. Don't know, really .....

First Meal In Kuching

Poor AT was hungry .... probably on the fringe of getting a gastric, and yet he had never breathed a word. Of course he would be hungry. Lunch was a mere plate of kampua ..... and it was already 8.30 p.m. when we finally made it to Kuching.

We were wondering where to have dinner ... perhaps Top Spot? Or Pending Seafood? Or Batu Lintang? Hmn ...... and we finally decided to go nearby to Hai Tian Lou ....

I felt dizzy when I got off the car .... hmn .... why? I wondered ..... perhaps we were in there for too long?? I wobbled into the restaurant ........

Midin

Venison stirfry

The food here was good, as usual ..... and we also ordered a Sea Cucumber thick soup..... which was a huge portion. The soup was good as there was crab meat in it. No pictures, sorry. I was too weary. And blur. Lols.

After dinner, AT sent me home. Sweet. :))

The Long Journey

Drive? People exclaimed.

"You are driving?" People repeated.

Well, yes. Driving. Only it's not me who's going to drive. AT will be behind the wheel. He's going to send me home to Kuching, right to my doorstep.

I was worried that my little car would not make that 800km trip .... What I feared most was perhaps the car breaking down halfway ... and maybe even a tyre puncture. I was worried because AT had seemed rather nonchalant about it. He did not tell me, but in fact, he had gotten the car checked that morning ... The tyres? AT said we would change them in Sibu as it would be cheaper there.

We wanted to leave by 6.30 a.m. ... but after a bit of dilly dallying, we set off at 7.00 a.m., with AT driving consistently at 110 kmph .... soon we reached Suai, Kidurong, Bintulu, Tatau, Selangau, and finally Sibu. It was but 12.00 p.m. ....

There wasn't much traffic on the road that Sunday morning, and perhaps that made the whole journey seemed so smooth.

In Sibu, we stopped to change the car tyres .... and of course, it was a plate of kampua for lunch.

Sibu Kampua and a glass of three-layered tea
The noodles were rather fragrant, but I did not like there to be so little meat with it. I ate a few mouthfuls and let AT finish the rest. My driver needed extra energy. Lols.

The next lag took us to Bintagor and Sarikei .... AT purposely brought me there as I had never been before in my entire life!

The little township of Bintagor

Sarikei is famous for pineapples ...

Past Sarikei, we slowed down a bit, it being unfamiliar territory. The road was also winding ... and we had to be extra alert.

Getting dark .... and we're still not there yet ....

We made it to Betong, Sri Aman, Serian and finally Kuching. At the outskirts of Kuching, I turned on the radio .... and Pharrell Williams' Happy was on the airwaves ..... That song epitomises my feeling at that moment. I was happy to be home after 2 decades.

inid2tell will now be based in Kuching. :))

Entry @ 20.08.2028

I find that I get angry and annoyed very often these days. A lot of things can trigger it. And last Sunday, even breakfast angered me. I wen...
