Day 5 : Mount Titlis - Lucerne

When I woke up, the room felt a bit stuffy. So I opened the window and was greeted by a cool air mist. I was absolutely delighted to find a lavender bush outside my window! The flowers smelled really lovely!

Lovely and cool air ....

We quickly got ready and went out for a walk ....

The road leading down to the main road from our hotel ...

Wheat? Hmn .... not sure ....

The road sign ....

It was really nice to stroll in the cool morning. We headed to the dining hall for breakfast. And breakfast was a disappointment - we had bread, croissant, butter and cheese and jam spread, omelette,  boiled egg, some potatoes, yoghurt, cereal, fruits, milk, juice and hot drinks. And that was it.

Boiled egg, croissant, bread ...

Fruits, cornflakes, cereal ....

 butter and cheese, watermelon

Potatoes and omelette

The tour manager told us that groups were normally assigned a room so that it was more convenient
for us. I thought it was crap.

Moreover, she added that we had been provided with everything, as they were served at the main buffet line. That was another bullshit.

At the main buffet line, I would have been spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting the bread alone!

So it remained a mystery why we were segregated ... was it discrimination because we were oriental? Or we hadn't paid enough? Or was it REALLY for the sake of convenience as was claimed?

We headed out to Mount Titlis that morning. I quite enjoyed the scenic drive to the cable car station. For this optional tour to the snow mountain, we had each paid CHF100.00.

Cable Car

Beautiful view on the way up

Beautiful! Just like a postcard ...

The higher we climbed, the whiter the scene became ....

 Snow covered slopes ...

We exited the top station, we had to transfer to a bigger rotating cable car which would take us to the summit.

The world's first rotating cable car ....

View from Mount Titlis ....

Another shot ...

Basically, we stayed out there, played in the snow and took lots of photographs. There was also a suspension bridge there .... the wind was strong and really biting, so that was the area that was cold. The snow was soft .... and I kept falling down as I walked. We stayed outside for an hour .... and went into the building. There were shops and restaurants here ....

Very delicious Swiss chocolate ice-cream, CHF4.30

I didn't eat the other items as there weren't enough time. There was also a Glacier tunnel there ...

Wet and cold inside this man-made tunnel ....

Soon, we queued up to make our down via the cable cars, and the bus took us to Lucerne. We spent the next few hours in Lucerne ..... either shopping for watches and souvenirs or just for sightseeing. It was a public holiday that day, and unfortunately, many shops were closed, including the supermarket which we had so looked forward to go to.

The Lion Monument or the Lion of Lucerne
We were moved by the expression of the lion as it laid there wounded and dying

Lake Lucerne

It was too hot to walk by the lake .... so we went to the Chapel Bridge, an old wooden bridge

 Lovely flowers

The Chapel Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the River Reuss

The bridge contains a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century.

Meal time, CHF9.10

Double McBacon Burger ...

Meals were not provided in Switzerland. We had to buy our own food ....

The burger was alright ... I think we liked the fries more ....

Our stomachs full, we walked to the church down the road ....

The Church of St. Leodegar, built from 1633 - 1639

We then returned to our hotel for the night.
