Breakfast @ Pelita Hai Ma

It was jammed everywhere but we found a place to park. Guess we were meant to have our breakfast at Pelita Hai Ma, here at the Pelita Commercial Centre. We ate a bit of dim sum. They all tasted pretty ordinary.

Braised Pig Stomach
Not much of taste, really - not sweet, not sour, nor fragrant ... hmn ....  only that the slices of stomach was chewy ..

Steamed Pork Ribs
The meat was tender, but taste wise, hmn .... savoury and gingery ... better than the pig stomach earlier ...

Beancurd Skin Roll ... quite salty ... and no texture where the filling was concerned...

 Century Egg Dumplings
Tasted alright ... not memorable though

I had Penang Fried Kuih Teow with clams special, for RM6.00.

Fried Kueh Tiaw, with Chinese sausages, clams, eggs, prawns and beansprouts.
Hmn ... the noodle dish seemed to be lacking something today ... I remember that they used to taste better last time. I liked the large prawns, though. Plus, the sambal still tasted yum.

Outside the cafe was a stall selling kuih. Business was good. Lots of people crowded the tables and bought the kuih.

Of the three, the kuih salad was the best, with savoury glutinous rice and not-so-sweet pandan custard on the top layer. The texture was also nice. The ondeh-ondeh skin was too thick and the filling was not sweet enough for my liking. I did not eat the peanut ball, so no comment.

Breakfast ... hmn ... not so enjoyable this time.

Baking

The other night, I was at W**'s house, and Kakak was baking Chicken Pie. Oh yum ... how I miss homemade chicken pie.

Chicken Pie

She had some leftover pastry and I suggested that she make sausage rolls. And I proceeded to help her roll the pastry and wrap them around chicken frankfurters.

 Sausage rolls

But since it was already late, and I could not wait for the rolls to cook. Kakak had to bake them herself .... I just wondered how they turned out. ;p

Autumn Royal Grapes

Hmn. I had a craving for grapes. When I was at Ta Kiong Supermarket the other day, there weren't much choice of grapes. So in the end, I had to settle for these Autumn Royal Grapes.

Don't you just love the name? It sure sounds aristocratic.

Hmn. I not only love the name, I also love the grapes! They are firm, crisp, sweet and seedless. Once I popped one into my mouth, I just could not stop till I finished the whole bowl!

These grapes sold at Ta Kiong for RM23.90 per kg. They do not come in cheap, but then, what's wrong with a little indulgence once in a blue moon?

New Bracelets

I fell in love with a few pieces of bracelets and had to buy them.

From the top : Columbary, Alpne, and Aloe

Love all of them.

I must say that I've always enjoyed interacting with Mei online. She answered all queries promptly and in such a friendly manner. But little did I know that ....

Her story really touched me. I salute this very young girl who has gone through all this with grit and determination. It makes me appreciate her jewellery all the more. I really look forward to more beautiful and creative pieces by her. Stay strong, girl!

Venture to Ramadhan Bazaar

"Auntie, Nasi Briyani?" a young man called out to me.

Auntie? Well, excuse me! Who's Auntie?? Certainly not me, and I was not going to buy from someone who just called me Auntie.

This is my second trip to the Bazaar this Ramadhan. And today, I felt like a glutton for buying so much.

 Sardine Puffs, 3 for RM1.00
Yummy ... I love sardines in pastry. I can never resist them. These puffs were freshly made, and filled with sardines, potatoes and onions. I love them!
Begedil Skewer, RM1.00 & Kuih Cara, 3 pieces for RM1.00
The begedil savoury and pretty yum. The Kuih Cara, though, was not so nice. I felt that it was a bit soft, and perhaps undercooked. I also did not like the minced shrimp filling in there. I prefer Kuih Cara filled with beef.

Nasi Lemak with Deep-fried Chicken Thigh, RM7.80
Yummmm .... what can go wrong with nasi lemak and fried chicken?

Seriously, I think the Bazaar at the Indoor Stadium Car Park is much more interesting, with many stalls selling cooked dishes, Briyani, noodles, kuih and what not. "No need to cook at all this month," my colleagues said. But for me, I am limiting myself to go only once in a week, lest I overeat this Ramadhan. ;p

Breakfast @ Yakin Food Court

Yippie. Breakfast time on weekends are something to look forward to. I wanted to have something hot and soupy ....

Large rice noodles in chicken soup and egg, RM6.00
I liked the soup, but not so much the noodles .... and anyway, this dish wasn't how I imagined it to be as the soup was more for mee suah or rice vermicelli ... and so I would not recommend this dish unless with eaten with mee suah

Carrot Cake, RM3.00
Hmn ... when the plate was placed before us, all of us exclaimed, "SO LITTLE"!!
Indeed the portion was really small. The carrot cake was alright, but it can nowhere be compared to those that I get at home... ;p

After breakfast, it's off to Tamu for weekly marketing ...

Dinner @ Airy Cafe

I did not know whether I was hungry or having a bout of stomach problems. But I was famished when we arrived at Airy Cafe at 7.10 p.m.

I ordered a Pork Ribs Rice, RM6.50. The pork was tender and well-fried. The sauce was a bit sour for me. I think I prefer a sweeter variety. But overall, the rice platter was alright, I suppose.

Pork Ribs Rice, RM6.50

 Stir-fried Lettuce, RM10.00

We ordered a Stir-fried Lettuce to share. It was RM10.00 for a teeny weeny plate. It was quite miserable, really.

Anyway, dinner did not leave me feeling satisfied at all .... My stomach still felt empty, and I did not know whether I was just being ultra hungry, or whether I was having gastric, or whether the multivitamins I was taking enhanced my appetite, or whether I was just feeling dissatisfied with the whole meal .... Hmn ...

Entry @ 03.10.2026

I've been super busy with work lately - preparing 3 weeks' worth of worksheets for my colleagues, scheduling work visits, attending ...
