Day 3 : Gamcheon Culture Village - Jagalchi Market - Gukje Market - Yongdusan

Our room was really small, but thankfully we had a good night's sleep. After 2 nights sleeping on the plane, I was glad to be sleeping on a bed again! Our accommodation at K-Guesthouse Nampo-dong came with breakfast. And breakfast was rather elaborate! We had to fry our own eggs and ham and toast our own bread ... and wash up afterwards.

After breakfast, ME and I set off for Gamcheon Culture Village. We took a subway to Toseong station, and thereafter, we took a bus all the way to the village. Gamcheon Culture Village was formerly a slum which is nestled into the side of a mountain. Now, it was been colourfully painted and turned into a tourist attraction. 

We walked around the village  .... and then we walked downhill, stopping at 2 marts along the way. We intended to catch a bus back to any metro station ... but we must have waited at the wrong bus stop .... we did not see any familiar buses despite waiting for a while. We decided to head back uphill where the bus station was - we walked past it a while ago. The bus brought us all the way back to Nampo-dong .... and we headed to Jagalchi Market.

Such a clean market! And there were so many stalls selling seafood that's ultra-fresh!

We headed upstairs ...

There were many types of anchovies and they all looked super fresh 

We browsed around the food stalls .... and many were working there spoke Mandarin and urged us to sit down and eat ..... We decided on Stall No. 3 where we saw more locals eating ...

ME and I shared a hot pot, but it was such a huge pot that we were struggling to finish it. I enjoyed the sweetness of the soup and the myriad of seafood in there - like crabs, octopus, prawns, scallops, clams, and lots of mussels. Delicious! Just too huge a pot for the both of us. 

After lunch, we headed to BIFF; it's right opposite Jagalchi Market, across the road.

Many stalls were already lining the streets, selling Korean street snacks ... 

And grabbed an iced Americano to quench my thirst ...... only KRW1,000

We walked past BIFF to get to Gukje Market; seriously the market is so HUGE!

Loved the assortment of Korean kitchenware; I wanted to buy a ttukbaegi .... but I doubt I could carry it home ... 

So much cheap clothing piled up on the floor .... one had to really take the time to search for a suitable outfit to buy if one wanted to ... 

The market was huge with many sections selling different items .... and we took our time to browse. Then we walked to Lotte Gwangbok - a huge departmental store that was nearby. And there was Lotte Mart in there. We spent quite a bit of time at the supermarket as well .... I loved the supermarket because there was so much food to sample! We also made mental notes of things that we wanted to buy and bring home later on.

We also saw some Taiwanese girls buying packets and packets of this candy. We asked them about it and they told us that the candy was yummy; so ME and I each bought a packet to try ...

After Lotte Gwangbok, we went back to our Guesthouse to rest for a while; later in the evening when it was not too hot, we went to Yongdusan Park .... 

Take the elevator up .... but you have to walk down the stairs ....

We walked around at Yongdusan Park .... and then walked downhill .... and walked and walked and walked and before we knew it, we were at the shops near Jungangdong station .... and we had to walk back all the way to Nampo-dong .....

We had both actually wanted to eat Budae-jjigae ..... we saw a shop named King Kong and thought we wanted to try the giant-sized stew, but then we were both too full from lunch to be eating at King Kong. 

Saw a policeman assisting a drunkard on my way back to the hotel ....
I'd just finished watching the police drama "Live" on tvN ..... heh .... so couldn't resist snapping a photo of the policeman in action; it felt like watching drama in real life.
