Shukie Cafe

The gals went to Shukie at Piasau for lunch yesterday.

 Signage

Entrance to building .... Artistic eh??

The cafe is air-conditioned, so it's great to eat lunch in comfort. ;)

We ordered a Mee Jawa. Well, the portion was rather big. The egg noodles were hidden in the curry gravy, and ingredients that sat atop the noodles were a fried chicken wing, deep-fried tofu, blanched beansprouts, half a hard-boiled egg, 3 slices of beef, ground peanuts and some sliced red chillies for colour.

I thought the portion was rather huge. The gravy has a good consistency and tastes slightly sweet. Overall, it's quite yum.

We also ordered a wanton soup. I liked the clear soup a lot. It's sweet, and flavoured with deep-fried shallots. There were plenty of wantons swimming in the soup. The wanton filling, was quite yum. However, I thought the wanton skin was a bit too thick and too hard.

What I liked best that afternoon was the kaya toast. 2 slices of light and pluffy white bread were toasted and then spreaded generously with salted butter and kaya. Yum.

The toast was RM1.80, the wanton soup was RM3.90, and the Mee Jawa was RM5.90. I thought the price was very reasonable. W**** recommended the Fried Beehoon with ikan bilis and cangkuk manis. We would have to try it another time.
