Year End Holidays

Today, at 2.05 p.m., the students are sent off for the year! Yes, it's the holidays again.

Tomorrow, SPM begins. Tomorrow, we teachers will have our staff meeting. After the staff meeting, we have to submit all the related documents - the register, students' record books, students co-curricular records, and so on. There is a long, long list and teachers cannot go on holiday if they do not hand in all those things.

On Thursday, we have our spring cleaning. On Thursday night, we have our annual dinner. And then, we are off till the end of December.

Well, teachers CAN be officially called back to school for specific duties during the holidays. So, certain teachers have been scheduled to be on duty, and they have to be at school during working hours. Some will be called back when the PMR results are announced, and they have to be analysing the results.

The temporary teachers, too, have to be at school. This year, there are plenty to do during the holidays, including holding remedial classes for students who have not mastered basic literacy and numeracy.

Of course, not forgetting the SPM and STPM invigilators, who will supervise the examinations daily till 8 December. These teachers, too, will have their holidays later than other people.

For myself, I only have 2 weeks of holidays. After that, I will be spending a month marking.
