Food Republic @ Pavilion KL

Pavilion KL was nicely prepped up for Christmas. The decorations were really lovely in a rich shade of velvety red. I played tourist and snapped away at every opportunity.

I loved this sleigh and reindeer display

After hours of window shopping, we dropped by at Food Republic @ Pavilion KL. We did not plan to eat, but the colourful food stalls there tempted us to sit down and have a bite.

Bro and sistb opted for the Assam Laksa. I'd eaten at Assam Laksa at Food Republic before this, and I remembered that it came in a giant bowl. Now, it seemed that the bowl had shrunk a lot.

The assam laksa was quite tasty. The gravy was infused with herbs and spices. It is tangy, thick and rich with the taste of fish, bunga kantan, and daun kesum. The bowl is topped generously with shredded cucumber, pineapple dices, chopped birds eye chilli, shallots, sprigs of mint leaves. Quite tasty, if you are craving for something sour and spicy.

We, Sarawakians, are not fond of popiah basah, which is primarily made of braised jicama. Over here, we stir-fry the jicama with garlic and dried prawns so that it is fragrant and lightly moist. However, we decided to give the popiah a try. We ordered a set of popiah, which consists of 3 different kinds of popiah.

There is the normal popiah basah, crabstick salad popiah, and the deep-fried spring roll. Aunt liked the crabstick salad one, which has a bit of shredded surimi and mayonnaise. I thought the normal popiah basah was alright. But I did not try the deep-fried spring roll, which I thought looked a bit soggy.

I liked the oyster omelette a lot. The oysters were huge, juicy and succulent. They were placed at the side of the plate. The portion is surprisingly generous too. Eat one oyster together with some omelette and chinese celery, and experience a burst of flavours all infused together. Highly recommended.

Yummy oyster omelette

Aunt was so impressed with the oyster omelette that she went back to the same stall to buy stir-fried carrot cake. It came with an egg omelette on top.

Fold the omelette and find the carrot cake below. This dish was only ordinary. I still preferred the oyster omelette.

Well, it was quite fun to snack like this after hours of shopping. I am definitely going back for more oyster omelette!
