Day 7 : Universal Studios Singapore

Today was a happy day! I had a great time at Universal Studios Singapore. It's been a long while since I last visited a theme park. I had nearly forgotten how fun it would be! Plus, the weather was super pleasant for the outdoor activities, as it was cloudy all day long! No scorching sun!! Yeah!!

* * *

Back at the hostel, breakfast started at 6.30 a.m. daily. There were 2 types of cereal, milk, white bread and spreads, and apples too. The coffee machine dispensed coffee, tea and Milo upon pressing a button. Eat and drink as much as you like!

We loved the balcony, where we could have our breakfast while enjoying the view .... It was all quiet in Singapore that early in the morning ...

 Breakfast with a view

Today's itinerary was to go to Universal Studios Singapore. We've pre-booked the tickets online, and had to get them redeemed there. We were there so early, lol!  The theme park would only start operating at 10.00 a.m. We got our tickets redeemed by 9.15 a.m., and then joined the queue at the entrances.

The tickets

The very recognisable Universal Studios globe

And a giant minion to pose with .... hee

Love these cute and colourful structures for decor ... they are all over the place

Finally, the theme park opened its doors and everyone charged in. This Universal Studios is relatively small, and there were 7 zones ...

Hollywood

We went straight to Sci-Fi City.

Sci-Fi City

Transformers

We took 3 rides here - Transformers The Ride : The Ultimate 3D Battle, Battlestar Galactica Cyclon, and Accelerator. This early, we did not wait long. Transformers The Ride was the most entertaining here. Armed with a pair of 3D glasses, we rode on an Autobot named Evac. We were going on a mission to battle the Decepticons .... and the ride had just spinning, reversing, ascending, accelerating, tossing and turning! It was fun!!

The scariest was Battlestar Galatica Cyclon, which was a suspended roller coaster ride. I hesitated going for this ride because I knew it was going to be terrifying. S, however, was enthusiastic. Anyway, we joined in the short queue, and before long it was our turn. As I had known all along, the ride was really intense, and had me closing my eyes and screaming at the top of my lungs throughout the 90-seconds ride. My legs were jelly as I got off, while S was sobbing with fear. Lol! What an experience!

Accelerator was just a teacup ride - so it was peanuts.

Next, we went to the New York zone. Here, the ride we took was the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space chase. It was a slow train ride - we were on a mission to space to rescue stolen spaghetti. Lol. So cute.

Another attraction at this zone was Lights, Camera, Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg. It was a sound stage, whereby we stood and watched with awe as the set turned into a scene of an impending hurricane in New York. This was at

At the Ancient Egypt zone, we saw these character meet and greets ...

And there were two rides which we took here .... Revenge of the Mummy & Treasure Hunters. Of the two, Revenge of the Mummy - an indoor high-speed roller coaster with sharp turns and sudden drops was scary as well. I kept my eyes closed and head bowed throughout the scary parts of the ride. Lol. Treasure Hunters was just a leisure car ride along an excavation site.

Next, was the Lost World zone ... we went on the Canopy flyer and Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure.
For Canopy flyer, we were suspended as the vehicle brought us for an aerial tour of this section of the park.

The Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure was my favourite ride here at Universal Studios Singapore. We waited for an hour for our turn! We did not want to get wet, so we bought ponchos at SGD4.00 each. The ride in the circular river raft was fun! I love the part when our raft was thrown down from 40 feet resulting in a huge splash and some of us getting drenched .... it was over all too soon for me! I wanted to go another round .... but of course, we did not want to join the queue for the hour-long wait anymore.

Entrance to The Lost World

We had lunch here at the Discovery Food Court. Actually, I was feeling a bit nauseous after being thrown about in the various roller coaster rides. I wish I had brought some antacids along. Well, our meal was SGD11.50 per set, but we got a rebate of SGD5.00 voucher which came with our entrance ticket. So we only paid SGD6.50 for each set.

Curry Laksa
Very delicious, generous in portion and rich in flavour

Roasted chicken rice

Both set lunches came with a bowl of dessert - we had mung bean soup and it was nice. We also bought chicken lollipop - fried chicken drummets and I think they were SGD3.50. The chicken was really nice and crispy when hot.

After lunch, we both felt a bit sleepy and tired ..... but the next zone we went to was Far Far Away. Here, we went mostly for shows. We watched the Shrek 4D adventure, and Donkey LIVE. I was interested in Puss in Boots' Giant Journey, but was unwilling to wait 60 minutes in the queue for it.

Puss in Boots' Giant Journey

The Dance For The Magic Beans

Finally, at the last zone, Madagascar, we rode the carousel King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round, and also Madagascar : A Crate Adventure.

By this time, it was 5.00 p.m., and we exited the theme park after this, but we could go back in if we wanted to. Invisible stamps were stamped on our arms for this purpose. Then we wandered around Resorts World Sentosa and at the shops.

The Forum, Resorts World Sentosa

Before taking the train back to Vivo City. We spent a bit of time here, window shopping. Of course, if we had seen anything nice, we would want to buy - clothing especially.

View of Resorts World Sentosa from Vivo City rooftop

We also had dinner here ....

Hokkien Mee

Char Kway Teow

Both not so nice .... hmn ....

And assorted deep-fried snacks ...

Poor S was bushed after a long but fun day! Lol. We headed back to our hostel after this. :))
