Day 3 : Puncak - Bandung

What a noisy night it was, with vehicles zooming along the main road non-stop! Really, the traffic seemed endless, and it really did not matter, except that it was disturbing my sleep.

I woke up early ... and went to the cafe for breakfast early as well. Plenty to offer at the buffet lines. There were assorted bread and pastries,stir-fried glass noodles, nasi uduk, tumis buncis jagung (Sauteed baby corn and carrots), telur balado, opor ayam, porridge and fresh fruits. Plenty to eat really!

Tortilla bread with dhal curry

Chicken porridge with condiments
What I did not like about the porridge was the thick consistency, making it seem like eating thick rice paste. Hmn ....

Yummy and fluffy egg omelette

My favourite that morning were the steamed corn on cob, ground nuts and sweet potato. These were naturally sweet and yummy.

How could I not eat fruits and keropok?

After breakfast, we continued our journey to Bandung which was still about 3 hours away. Of course, we made a few stops along the way. The first stop was an Ayam Pelung farm.

Ayam Pelung is larger than an ordinary farm chicken, and it is known for its long and deep crows.

Ayam Pelung cages

Peeking out from its cage ....

Ayam Pelung

We spent some time here trying to coax the roosters to crow .... which some of them did! Indeed the sounds were low and long. Really different from the crows of those ordinary roosters!

The next stop was a confectionery called Toko Manisan dan Kue Sumber Wangi.

The shop

It sells an array of local foodstuff ...

Pickled fruits

 Jackfruit chips and biscuits

 Melinjo chips

 Tapioca chips

Banana chips

Breadfruit chips

 Dried mangoes

Layered cakes

By the time we reached Bandung, it was lunch time! We had lunch at Restoran Sederhana, another nasi padang restaurant. This one seemed more impressive.

See the number of dishes the waiter could carry on just one arm!

The staff were very friendly, and welcomed me to take photos in the kitchen itself!

After lunch, we went shopping at Jalan Ir. H. Juanda. There were so many factory outlets along this road. We were dropped off at Grande FO .... and we wandered to Jetset FO, Blossom FO and Glow FO.

I bought a fancy hat .....

Next, we went to Saung Angklung Udjo ...

An angklung

We caught some cultural performances here ....

A traditional mask dance

And I loved the session where the audience were given a chance to play music as well .... each audience was handed an angklung. The angklung has been numbered. Then a music score is shown .... and when your number is indicated, you shake your angklung. It was fun!

Dinner that night was at Kampiun Bistro .... and here's what we had ...

White rice

Sambal

Deep-fried Fish ....catfish? Hmn .... not sure ..

Black pepper chicken

Spicy tom yum

Deep-fried tofu with chilli flakes
I loved this dish! The tofu balls were soft inside and melted in the mouth  ... yums ... the chilli seasoning was so subtle as not to overpower the fragrant taste of soy ...

Egg omelette

Stir-fried kangkung

My platter

Love the scooter at the bistro

After dinner .... we were checked into our hotel for the next two nights, the Arion Swissbel.

The room smelled musty, but otherwise, it was comfortable.
