So we detoured to Lock Ann. I wondered if this was the same operator (or at least from the same family of operators?) as the Lock Ann at Rubber Road and its branch in Matang. Now, I had gone to Lock Ann twice and both times, they were closed! So I had not have the chance to sample their specialty shaved ice and fritters.
But D said this was the original store at the Open Air Market here ...
No longer is the old-fashioned ice-shaving wheel used here ....
2 bowls of red bean ice ....
Tada! The red beans were powdery, sweet but rather satisfying ....
Business was quite good at night .... where patrons would order drinks and various varieties of iced desserts to go with their kolo mee and beef noodles, as well as the steamed buns and shao mai from the other stalls at the vicinity. :))
The dessert uncle closes early on rainy nights .... so be sure to get there when the sky's clear. :))
