Sushi King Bonanza

There's this Sushi King Bonanza going on for 2012 Sushi King members, where rice-based sushi on the Kaiten Belt sells for only RM2.00. For Sabah and Sarawak, the promotion is on 9 - 12 April 2012.

At about 11.30 a.m, there was a long queue, so we joined in. We waited for about 10 minutes for there to be an empty table.

Queuing up

Once it was our turn, we had to show our member card and we were given a docket and the disposables - chopsticks, saucers and napkins. They were just shoved into our hands and we were shown to the table.

Some of what we had off the Kaiten Belt :

 Chuka Chinmi Gunkan
Seasoned Scallop

Inari Boat Tuna Mayo
I like this item. The beancurd is slightly sweet, the tuna and cucumbers go really well together, and the mayo enhances the whole thing.

 California Maki
Crabstick, Omelette, Cucumber and Fish Roe

 Spicy Tuna Maki
Tuna, Mayo, Cucumber, Chilli Flakes

 Tuna Mayo Maki
Tuna Mayo, Nori, Seaweed Flakes

Smoked Salmon Nigiri

 Salmon Nigiri
The salmon was yum - fresh and sweet

 Unagi Slice Nigiri
Grilled Eel - this was not bad too

Takohachi Sushi Nigiri
Deep-fried Salmon Sausage

Salmon Skin
Soggy, but still tasty. This is a normal priced item because it is not rice-based.

We also had the
  • Tsubukko (Fish Roe) Gunkan
  • Kani Mayo (Shredded Crabstick) Gunkan
  • Surimi Scallop Nigiri
  • Ebi Nigiri.

Altogether, the three of us consumed 14 RM2.00 items, and a normal priced item. I'm glad we did not stuff ourselves silly.

But hey,
didn't it state at the banner that we had 45 minutes to eat? We were cheated of 15 minutes. Unfair!

The bill came to RM36.70 for the three of us. It's considerably cheap but well, I do not enjoy the experience. Eating in a rushed manner really sucks. The food is mediocre, like most fast food outlets, and service is poor due to the large crowd.

But, people are queuing up all the same. There was a long queue when we left the outlet, and there was an even longer queue when we left the mall. Lols. Happy queuing, people! And enjoy the food!
